PTPTN loans for M40 students increased from 75% to 100%, says PM


SUNGAI BESI: National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) students who are in the middle 40% (M40) income group are now eligible to apply for the laptop loan scheme facility, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Prime Minister also said that PTPTN loans offered to the M40 group (M1) have been increased from 75% to 100%.

"So to all of you, there will be more announcements for the interest of higher education students," he announced in his speech at the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) on Thursday (Sept 15).

Also present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Malaysian Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang.

The Prime Minister also said he was informed by Noraini that the Malaysian Family Cheap Sale programme will be held at every institute of higher learning (IPT) from next month to address the issue of the rising cost of living among students.
